Scotch Whisky

Scotch Whisky

The world-famous Scotch includes malt or grain whisky and has to adhere to strict norms outlined by the UK Parliament – for example, any Scotch whisky has to be aged in oak barrels for at least three years, while any age statement visible on the bottle refers to the youngest whisky used in it. It’s a beverage with long-standing traditions – the first written mention of it was recorded in 1495.

Nowadays, nearly 40 bottles is exported from Scotland every second – that’s nearly 100 million cases a year which, if laid next to each other, could cover the distance between Edinburgh and New York six times!
